[Korea’s economy]
The Republic of Korea achieved unprecedented economic growth.
It is called the "Miracle on the Han River"
as the economic growth is achieved with only little capital and resources when industrial facilities were
almost devastated by the Korean War.
Since the 1960s, the Republic of Korea has established and promoted an
export-led economic development plan.
Initially, raw materials and light industrial products produced in small
factories were mainly exported, but since the 1970s, economic development
was carried forward through investment in heavy and chemical industrial
facilities and it led to increase in exports of heavy industrial products.
Currently, the Republic of Korea leads the semiconductor, automobile,
display and IT sectors, and as of 2020, it has developed into the world's
10th-largest economy with exports of $512.5 billion and GDP of $1.8 trillion.
[Korea’s culture]
The Republic of Korea has been deeply formed in the northern system culture due to various geographical
and environmental factors, and in modern times, it has been severely damaged
by the Korean War and Japanese colonial era.
However, in the present age, it has been harmonized and developed with research,
restoration and utilization of traditional culture and newly created modern culture.
Since the 2010s, when Korea's global recognition rapidly increased,
the presence of the national title "KOREA" in the world has grown very much.
The entertainment industry, including K-POP, dramas, and Korean movies,
is gaining high popularity in Asia, and is increasing the influence of
the Korean Wave in the world beyond neighboring countries, Asia.
The entertainment industry such as online games and webtoons has also grown its influence and presence.
It’s drawing keen attention from foreigners as
it reinterprets traditional cultures such as hanbok and pansori in modern way.
